In the latest entry in By Heart, the Atlantic series we’ve written about a few times, Ben Marcus (who recently came out with a new book) reflects on the true meaning of the word “Kafkaesque.” Marcus interprets Kafka’s “A Message from the Emperor” as a parable about the difficulty of real human connection. I’m hoping one of you might be able to help locate my friend’s dog, Zeus. Zeus was stolen this morning (9/4/13) around 7AM from a trailer in Rockaway Park, Queens. He is a large dog, a 180-pound bull mastiff, but he is friendly and sweet. He means the world to my friend, who’s a Purple Heart Vietnam veteran and has lived with Zeus for 7 years.
